English Composition and Grammar

A review of sentence structure, punctuation, spelling, paragraph development, and essay organization as an introduction to the writing process, essays and autobiographies. Emphasis is placed on expository writing. A minimum grade of ‚ a C is required to pass this course.

EN 102
Advanced Composition and Grammar
3 Credit Hours
Prerequisite: A “C “ in EN 101
An introduction to academic writing emphasizing argumentation, research, documentation, and style, centering on the library paper. A minimum grade of ‚ a C is required to pass this course.

EN 201
Introduction to Journalism
3 Credit Hours
Prerequisite: A “C” in EN 102
A practical introduction to Journalism, giving special attention to writing of Christian themes, and writing for publications. The student will focus on the research and writing of numerous factual articles and editorials.

EN 202
Creative Writing
3 Credit Hours
Prerequisite A “C” in EN 102
While studying and practicing what constitutes effective writing, the student is encouraged to apply the tools of writing in an area of their own personal interest. Special attention is given to poetry, characterization, and other forms of imaginative writing.

EN 304
Children’s Literature
3 Credit Hours
A unique opportunity to read widely from the best of children’s literature, and to become acquainted with well-known authors and illustrators. Emphasis is placed upon the evaluation and importance of the role of literature in the life of a child
